Finally I’ve found an interview with Noah ‘40’ Shebib, Drake’s producer, which gives a great insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes in making Drake so goddamn awesome, in anticipation of his new album launch in November.
Obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about this guy and his production, and this sentence from the interview pretty much sums up why:
“So much of their music is born of late-night improvisation, and a kind of unguarded silliness you can only tap into when you feel truly one hundred percent at ease with another person. Many Drake songs, more than you’d think, are first takes.”
This is a great interview, and a great song, by true purveyors of R&B and Hip-Hop. ‘40’ is fast becoming my favourite Hip-Hop producer of all time.
