As mixtapes go, the latest offering from Rick Ross ‘Rich Forever’ is pretty decent, featuring pretty much everyone big in the US mainstream hip-hop scene right now.
As a business strategy however, it’s genius - Ross has a new album out soon, and this mixtape is literally a taster - it’s good enough to be given away, in that there are a few stand out tracks but it’s hardly legendary material.
The fact is, however, that by listing all of the producers on this mixtape it’s pretty much guaranteed that the album is going to be banging - hence people will go out and buy it. As a rapper, he’s hardly the greatest, but as someone who’s clear goal in life is to ‘get money’, then there are few out there right now who can touch him.
